Christmas was far from novel in the halls of the Alchemist Academy. Even after the most recent move, there were decorations and mementos people brought with them. Hopper1 hadn't paid much attention to them - there would be trouble if any of them broke, it didn't take long at all to learn, and the curiosity factor wore off quickly as years passed.
Then someone brought in a tree specifically to hang lights on it, and suddenly all of the Chemies wanted a closer look.
The alchemy students were much entertained by the results - but no incident entertained them more than the time Hopper1 had climbed the tree.
Due to how sharp its claws were, the Chemy found itself immediately stuck - and, further, trapped in the lights when it tried to jump down.
Its complaints had been loud and numerous, and of course people had laughed at the sight - but, eventually, conscience got the better of them and they helped Hopper1 get free.
But, after that time, Hopper1 vowed to not touch the lights again. No matter how pretty they were.
